About these terms
AEC Wood Art (“we”, “us”, “the studio”) is a bespoke furniture and wood-art studio operating from Sydney, Australia and Tel Aviv, Israel. These terms apply to your use of the website at www.aecwoodart.com.au and to any enquiry, quotation or commission you make with us.
By using this website you agree to these terms. They should be read together with our Privacy Policy, Shipping & Delivery policy, and Cancellation, Returns & Warranty policy, each of which is linked in the footer of every page. If a specific commission is governed by a separate written quotation or agreement, that document takes precedence where it differs from these general terms.
Using this website
This website is provided so you can view our work, learn about the studio, design a piece in the Table Builder, and begin a commission enquiry. Any pricing the Table Builder shows is an estimation tool to help start a conversation — it is not a binding offer or a confirmed order.
You agree to use the website lawfully and not to interfere with its operation, security or availability, or to access it in a way that damages or overloads it. We may update, suspend or withdraw parts of the website at any time without notice.
Enquiries & project discussions
When you contact us or submit a design, you are starting a conversation — not placing a confirmed order. We respond to enquiries personally and use the details you share only to discuss and develop your project. No contract is formed until we have agreed a specification in writing and you have confirmed the commission as described below.
Quotations & estimates
Commissions typically begin at AUD $3,000 and rise with size, timber, resin complexity, base design and finish. Any figure shown on the website or produced by the Table Builder is an indicative estimate for a standard configuration; unique pieces are quoted individually.
The price for your piece is the one set out in the written quotation we prepare for you. Each quotation is valid for the period stated in it and is subject to the timber and materials remaining available. Unless the quotation says otherwise, prices are in Australian dollars.
Bespoke & custom-made work
Every piece is designed and made to order for you. A commission is confirmed once two things happen: you approve the design specification in writing, and the agreed deposit is received. As documented in our Returns & Warranty policy, a 50% deposit confirms a commission and the balance is due before dispatch.
Approval of the design specification — size, timber, material style, edge profile, base and finish — is the point at which production may begin and the slab is claimed for your piece. The exact payment schedule, milestones and any variation for your commission are those set out in your written quotation or agreement.
Design approval
Before any timber is cut, we confirm the design specification with you in writing so that what arrives is what you approved. Please review it carefully — particularly dimensions, materials and how the piece will fit and be used in your space. Approving the specification confirms those details are correct to the best of your knowledge.
Timber, resin & natural variation
Our pieces are handcrafted from natural timber and hand-poured resin. No two slabs are alike and no two pours behave identically. Variation in colour, grain, knot, figure and texture — and minor variation in cured resin within the studio’s craftsmanship tolerance — is inherent to natural, handmade work and is part of what makes each piece one of a kind. It is not a defect.
Timber is a living material that responds to its environment. Reasonable movement, and the deepening of tone over time, are normal. Care guidance and the full scope of what the craftsmanship warranty does and does not cover are set out in our Cancellation, Returns & Warranty policy.
Imagery, samples & digital previews
Photographs on the website, physical material references, and any preview generated in the Table Builder are provided to help you picture your piece. They are a guide to style and appearance, not an exact reproduction. Screen colours vary from device to device, and because timber and resin are natural materials the finished piece will always differ in its detail from any image or on-screen preview. The design specification we confirm in writing is the definitive description of what we will make.
Pricing & payment
A deposit secures your place in the workshop queue and confirms your commission; the balance is due before your piece is dispatched. The accepted payment methods and the schedule for your commission are set out in your written quotation or agreement.
Where payment is taken online, it is processed through our secure third-party checkout and payment provider. Card details are entered into the provider’s secure form — we never see or store your full card number. How we handle the information involved is described in our Privacy Policy.
Production timeframes & delays
Custom orders typically take approximately 45–50 business days from the moment your design is confirmed and deposit received. Larger or more complex commissions may take longer, and we will always give you a realistic written timeline before you commit.
Timeframes are estimates given in good faith, not guarantees. Because the work depends on natural timber, the pace of resin curing, and careful hand-finishing, some variation is normal. We are not liable for delays outside our reasonable control, and we will let you know as soon as we are aware of anything that affects your date.
Changes after approval
Once you have approved the specification and production has begun, the commission cannot be substantively changed or cancelled — the slab has been claimed for your piece and the layout cut, and the work cannot be reused for another client. Any request to change a piece after approval is at our discretion and may affect the price and timeline. The full cancellation terms, including when a deposit is refundable, are set out in our Cancellation, Returns & Warranty policy.
Delivery & installation
Every commission leaves the workshop crated and insured, and we ship worldwide. The delivery, unloading and installation options, transit insurance, international customs responsibilities, and what to do on arrival are all described in full on our Shipping & Delivery page, which forms part of these terms.
Please make sure there is clear, safe access to the destination room before delivery. Carriers cannot move existing furniture, make electrical connections, or modify built-in fixtures unless that has been agreed in advance.
Your responsibilities
To help your commission go smoothly, you agree to:
- Give us accurate information — including measurements, access details and delivery contacts — and tell us promptly if anything changes.
- Check that the agreed dimensions and design suit your space before approving the specification.
- Ensure safe and clear access for delivery, as described on the Shipping & Delivery page.
- Care for your piece in line with the care guidance provided, which helps keep it beautiful and preserves your warranty.
Intellectual property
All content on this website — imagery, text, logos, the wordmark, and the studio’s design language — together with the original designs we develop for a commission, are the intellectual property of AEC Wood Art unless stated otherwise. You may not copy, reproduce, republish or reuse them for commercial purposes without our written permission.
You are welcome to share photographs of your own commissioned piece. We may photograph completed pieces and use those images to represent our work, unless we have agreed otherwise with you in writing.
Third-party links & services
This website may link to, or rely on, third-party sites and services — for example social media, messaging, payment and delivery providers. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, availability or their own terms and privacy practices. Your use of them is at your own discretion.
Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law or other applicable law.
Subject to those rights, and to the fullest extent permitted by law: the website and its content are provided “as is”; we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability in connection with any commission is limited to the price paid for that commission.
Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Where a piece has a major failure you are entitled to a remedy as the law provides, and to compensation for other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. These terms operate in addition to, and do not limit, your rights under that law. How we handle a fault or a claim is described in our Cancellation, Returns & Warranty policy.
Privacy
We handle the personal information you share with us in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which is written with reference to the Australian Privacy Principles and forms part of these terms. It also explains how you can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your information.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time as the studio evolves. The “last updated” date at the top of the page shows when they last changed. The version in force when you make an enquiry or confirm a commission is the one that applies to it.
Governing law & contact
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia, and any dispute is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Australian courts. This does not affect any rights you may have as a consumer to bring proceedings in your local jurisdiction where the law allows.
For any question about these terms, write to contact@aecwoodart.com.au or call the studio in Australia on 0480 049 686. We respond personally.
