Overview
AEC Wood Art respects your right to control your personal information. If you have contacted us, saved a design, made a commission enquiry, or interacted with us through our website, Facebook or Instagram, you can ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you.
This page sits alongside our Privacy Policy, which describes in full what we collect and how we use it. Here we focus on one thing: how to ask us to delete your information, and what to expect once you do.
How to request deletion
To request deletion, email us at woodartbyaec@gmail.com with “Data Deletion Request” in the subject line. Where possible, please send the request from the same email address you used to contact us, as this helps us find and verify your information quickly.
What to include in your request
So we can locate the right records, please include:
- The name you used when you contacted us.
- The email address and/or phone number associated with your enquiry or commission.
- A brief description of your enquiry, saved design or piece, and roughly when it took place.
- If your contact reached us through Facebook or Instagram, the profile name or handle you used there.
Verifying your request
To protect your privacy and prevent unauthorised deletion, we may need to verify that you are the person the information relates to — for example, by confirming ownership of the email address or account the request concerns. We will only ask for what is reasonably necessary to do this.
What can be deleted
Depending on what we hold, a deletion request can cover:
- Your contact details — name, email address, phone number and any delivery address.
- Enquiry and message history, and notes or references you shared during a project discussion.
- Saved designs or configurations linked to you.
- Analytics and advertising data associated with your interactions, including through Facebook or Instagram, to the extent it is within our control.
Information we may need to keep
We will delete what we can, but some information may need to be retained where we have a legal, accounting, contractual or legitimate business obligation to keep it. This includes financial and tax records we are required to hold under Australian law, records relating to an active or recent commission, and information reasonably needed to resolve a dispute or to prevent fraud.
Where we keep information for one of these reasons, we retain only what is necessary, for only as long as necessary, and then securely delete or anonymise it.
How long it takes
We aim to process verified deletion requests as soon as reasonably practicable, and normally within 30 days. If a request is unusually complex, or we need more information to identify your records, we will let you know and keep you updated.
Confirmation
Once your request has been processed, we will confirm this by email where practical. If any information had to be retained for one of the reasons above, we will tell you what was kept and why.
Access & correction requests
Deletion is not your only option. You can also ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate or out of date. Use the same email address, and we will respond personally. Your broader privacy rights are set out in our Privacy Policy.
